In Chuvashia, after three villagers were infected with anthrax, a criminal case was opened under the article on violation of veterinary rules, which through negligence caused the spread of infection or other serious consequences (part 1 of article 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, a resident of the village of Staroe Aktashevo slaughtered a bull-calf infected with anthrax for meat. Since 2022, the man has not vaccinated animals against anthrax and has not provided animals for preventive examinations by a veterinarian. As a result, a neighbor of the suspect, who slaughtered a bull with him, and his wife, as well as another resident of the village, became infected with anthrax.
March 15, head of Chuvashia Oleg Nikolaev informedthat in the Tsivilsky municipal district two people were infected with anthrax, they were taken to the hospital in a state of moderate severity. March 17 in the village of Staroe Aktashevo introduced quarantine. On March 22, a man who arrived from Chuvashia in the Moscow region was hospitalized with suspected anthrax.
