Actor and wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has admitted to years of depression that began in college.
The Fast & Furious and WWE star said he first felt depressed when he injured his shoulder and was unable to play on the football team. He admitted that at that time he knew nothing about mental health, about depression and how it can manifest itself.
“Then I just left school, quit my sports team. I didn’t even take the intermediate exams. I just wanted to disappear,” he said.
The second time depression overtook him when he divorced his first wife.
“Then I already understood more about myself, about my mental health, and I was smart enough to honestly tell my relatives and friends about my condition, who supported me a lot,” said the popular actor.
He also said that now, having married a second time, he is escaping depression through the communication and care of his new wife Lauren Hishian and three daughters.
