A shortage of 1.5 thousand medical workers has been recorded in Crimea – Kommersant

There are a shortage of approximately 1.5 thousand medical workers in hospitals and clinics in Crimea, the region’s Council of Ministers told Kommersant. According to officials, despite the ongoing work to staff the republic’s medical institutions, they still lack 500 doctors and 1 thousand junior and mid-level medical staff.

At the end of 2022, according to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the personnel requirement of the healthcare system in Crimea was about 600 doctors and more than 1.5 thousand middle and junior staff. In 2021, there was a shortage of 2.5 thousand doctors and 4 thousand representatives of nursing staff.

Largest deficit (50% to 70%) observed among infectious disease specialists, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, emergency physicians, internists, surgeons, pulmonologists, endocrinologists and oncologists. In the near future, according to officials, a hemodialysis department will be opened in Yalta on the basis of the FMBA.
