A Russian woman who killed her three children was declared insane

The head of the third department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Sverdlovsk Region, Alexander Sapegin, spoke URA.RU on the completion of the investigation into the case of Anastasia Petrova, who is accused of murdering three children. The examination found that she was not aware of the nature of her actions and needed compulsory treatment.

According to Sapegin, the investigation into the relevant case has been completed, and, according to the conclusion of the latest expert study, the accused does not realize the actual nature of her actions and is not able to direct them. The publication’s interlocutor clarified that the woman needs to be referred for compulsory treatment to a medical institution that provides psychiatric care.

The investigation established that at the end of last year Petrova strangled two of her children in their sleep, and then killed the third child. It is noted that in a note left for her husband, she explained that her youngest son was “possessed by a demon,” and the eldest was “obsessed with fornication and pride.”
