A prominent scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences Vitaly Melnikov died on Wednesday morning in a Moscow hospital. There he was hospitalized with a severe form of poisoning.
As it became known to MK, the 77-year-old professor was admitted to the hospital on August 11. According to the preliminary version, he was poisoned by inedible mushrooms. Doctors tried for several weeks to save him, but to no avail.
Vitaly Melnikov worked at RSC Energia, headed the Department of Rocket and Space Systems there, participated in many scientific experiments. He worked as a chief researcher at TsNIIMASH (a division of Roscosmos). Author of almost 300 scientific papers.
