Social network X is testing a new type of disguised clickbait advertising that is not labeled. About it reports Mashable with a link to platform users.
The ads do not reveal who is behind the ad; such messages cannot be blocked, liked, or reported. To users, they will appear to be another person’s tweet. The ad contains a photo and text with clickbait content – such messages are often regarded as spam and usually appear in the footers of websites. When you click on an ad or a user icon, you are redirected to an external resource. So far, only mobile device users have encountered the new type of advertising.
Previously, the social network X began test a new way of publishing posts with links to news articles: now they will not have headings, only a clickable image and a short description will remain. According to Elon Musk, this innovation will help curb clickbait.
