A monument to Finnish soldiers disappeared in Priozersk, Leningrad Region

In Priozersk, Leningrad Region, a monument to 130 Finnish soldiers who died during the Second World War disappeared from the pedestal at the local church. Residents of Priozersk reported this in a closed group on VKontakte, drew attention “Fontanka”.
The first photo with an empty pedestal was taken on September 21. Residents turned to the head of the Priozersky district administration, Alexander Soklakov, but they were told that they did not know where the object was located and “were not responsible for its maintenance.”
The monument to Finnish soldiers was erected in the summer of 2019 on the site of the old military cemetery Käkisalmi (Finnish name for Priozersk). The Finnish Ministry of Culture participated in financing the project. Next to the church there is another monument to Finnish soldiers, erected in 1996.
