Pediatrician Sergei Butriy left Russia after 10 days of arrest

Pediatrician Sergei Butriy, known as the author of the blog “Notes of a Children’s Doctor,” left Russia with his family after spending ten days under arrest. He spoke about this in his Telegram channel.

Butria was arrested by the Khamovnichesky Court at the end of February under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (inciting hatred and enmity) after an interview with journalist Katerina Gordeeva*, who was recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent. The materials stated that some of the doctor’s statements contained actions aimed at “humiliating the dignity of a person and a group of people identified on the social basis of “doctors who share the values of Russian society.”

According to Butria, he was clearly told that arrest was not the end of the problems, so immediately after his release he decided to fly out of the country with his family.

Butriy said that he will continue to consult patients, including remotely, and will engage in educational and awareness-raising projects for colleagues and parents. His blog about modern pediatrics is subscribed to by more than 117 thousand people on Telegram, and by more than 230 thousand on the social network VKontakte.
