A dog trainer tells how to help a dog avoid premature death

Dogs live much less than humans, and in order to prevent a pet from dying prematurely, it is necessary to follow a number of rules, as Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation (RKF), said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
He noted that the key factors are proper nutrition, good living conditions and proper care. At the same time, he noted that the owner himself often shortens the pet’s life if he feeds it from the table, avoids vaccination, or lets the dog go for a walk alone.
Golubev noted that a dog’s lifespan and diet are directly related, and disordered eating will in any case have an impact in the future. The dog’s diet should be close to natural and meet physiological as well as energy needs, he said.
He also called refusing to vaccinate a dog an unjustified risk, and noted that a number of extremely dangerous diseases can only be avoided through vaccinations. He also recommended taking your dog to a specialist at least twice a year.
According to him, while walking alone, a dog can get hit by a car, eat something poisonous or harmful, or be attacked by other animals or people. “It’s impossible to predict what will happen to a dog that walks alone,” he said.
Golubev also called for providing the dog with care – cutting his nails on time, examining his ears and eyes, combing his fur and monitoring his mouth.
