On July 7, the Urvansky District Court of the KBR delivered a verdict of not guilty in the case of Diana Tsipinova, whom the investigation accused of using violence against a police officer (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

On May 20, 2020, she, along with two colleagues, arrived at the Urvan regional police department to provide legal assistance to lawyer Ratmir Zhilokov, who was detained that day. However, despite the presence of lawyer certificates and warrants, they were not allowed to see the detainee. When they nevertheless tried to enter the police building, they were rudely expelled from there.

Diana Tsipinova, who was filming everything that happened on her phone, had the device knocked out of her hands, and when she tried to return it, a fight broke out, which was caught on surveillance cameras. The girl was dragged to the police station, where she was kept in handcuffs until morning. After the lawyers wrote complaints and demanded that the police officers be held accountable, a criminal case was initiated against them.

During the court debate, the prosecution asked the court to find her guilty and impose a sentence of two years and six months of real imprisonment in a settlement colony. However, the court listened to the arguments of the defense and acquitted Ms. Tsipinova. President of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers of the Russian Federation Svetlana Volodina called the court’s decision “a great victory for truth and justice.”
