A common method of deceiving buyers when ordering a car from abroad has been revealed.

The head of the Autocriminalist expert center Maxim Shelkov in conversation with “Gazeta.Ru” said that when ordering cars from abroad, buyers may encounter deception from unscrupulous customs brokers.
As Shelkov noted, the customer of the car can be very seriously deceived by substituting the original payment documents, the so-called invoices, on which the customs office calculates the customs payment. The expert pointed out that unscrupulous customs brokers provide the customer with an invoice, which indicates the full cost of the imported car, while they submit a false document to customs, where the price of the car can be reduced by half.
Such underestimated invoices, according to Shelkov, are subsequently identified as part of customs checks and the buyer is forced to make an additional payment so that his car’s electronic vehicle passport (PTS) is not cancelled. At the same time, he added that unscrupulous brokers ask to transfer the full payment to the accounts of individuals, and not their company, which is why the buyer may experience difficulties trying to prove that he really transferred the money for customs clearance.
