A bill on the indefinite validity of the maternity capital program has been submitted to the State Duma for consideration. The initiators of the project clarified that, according to current laws, the program is valid until December 31, 2026.

“This measure of state support has proven itself positively, as evidenced by the number of issued state certificates for maternity (family) capital. From January 1, 2007 to October 1, 2023, 13.5 million certificates were issued. The number of requests for disposal of maternal capital is 13.3 million,” says the explanatory note note to the bill in the State Duma electronic database.

According to deputies, stopping the “unique demographic program” is unacceptable. They explained that long-term data indicate a decline in the population of Russia due to the excess of mortality rates over birth rates.

On February 1, 2024, maternity capital was indexed and amounted to 630.4 thousand rubles. for the first child and 834 thousand rubles. on the second. February 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin during his address to the Federal Assembly announced on extending the program until 2030.
