The Odintsovo City Court of the Moscow Region decided to terminate the criminal prosecution against 19-year-old Maxim Lypkan, who was involved in the case of disseminating deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and to send him for compulsory psychiatric treatment due to insanity.
Before the verdict comes into force, the young man will be placed in the Moscow Regional Psychiatric Hospital named after V.I. Yakovenko.
In February 2023, Lypkan was placed in Moscow pre-trial detention center-2 as a preventive measure in a criminal case. He was then sent to a mental hospital last November.
