115 SVO participants and their children entered Moscow State University under a special quota – Kommersant

At Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, according to the quota for participants in the special military operation and their children, received 115 people this year. This was stated at a press conference by the rector of the university Viktor Sadovnichy.

“This year we accepted 115 (applicants. – “Kommersant”) – these are the children of those who participated in the hostilities, and those who participated themselves. Another hundred, or even several, we transfer from other universities, if they ask, from universities in new territories or other universities, we also transfer them, despite the lack of places, ”said Mr. Sadovnichy (quoted from TASS).

Victor Sadovnichiy noted that the number of foreign students enrolled at the university is growing – this year 2,400 applicants from other countries will begin their studies at Moscow State University. In total, about 13 thousand people were enrolled in the university.

At the end of July, Deputy Minister of Science and Education of Russia Dmitry Afanasiev declaredthat according to the quota for the participants of the SVO and their children in 2023, about 7 thousand applicants entered the universities. At the end of last year, the law “On Education” stipulated that universities should allocate at least 10% of places in each direction for this benefit.

About 300 military children who participated in hostilities in Ukraine this year received at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow State Pedagogical University and MAI. In total, 626,278 state-funded places were allocated to universities, of which slightly less than 1% of the total number of applicants (6,659 places) were received by students of the SVO and their children.
