Expert: Abnormal heat in Europe and the US threatens to collapse

In European countries and in the USA in 2023, a very hot summer is again – the temperature reaches 45 degrees. The same situation is in Canada. If this continues, serious problems are possible. Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo prognostic center, spoke about this at the MK press center.
“Heat waves are becoming more frequent, and it was predictable, experts have long assumed this. We can hardly imagine what +45 degrees is in the shade. This is a serious test. First of all, this is an increased load on the energy system; there have been collapses in the United States. These are problems with water supply – in France they have already limited the filling of pools and watering lawns near houses. If this continues, you will have to take a shower for 1-2 minutes. Fires in southern and central Europe are not so catastrophic, but Canada, for example, has been seriously affected by this.
The expert added that sharp temperature contrasts, when thunderstorms and showers replace heat, are also very dangerous for urban infrastructure. The same can be said about Moscow – over the past thirty years, the temperature in the city has risen significantly.
