“The withdrawal of this formation from the reserve and its transfer to the first echelon of the advancing units suggests that at present the morale of the units and units (AFU) at the forefront has fallen significantly,” the specialist shared his point of view.

According to the analyst, this step indicates that the professionalism of the defending units of the RF Armed Forces has grown.

Ukraine threw the 82nd Airborne Battalion into attacks on Russian positions in Rabotin, but they were unsuccessful for the Ukrainian army. Nasonov believes that Kyiv needs such a unit on the line of contact, definitely not for a successful breakthrough. He added that the elite brigade is armed with the equipment of the Western military-political bloc NATO, but there is one feature. The fact is that it was brought from different member states of the alliance, respectively, tanks, armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles are not intended for joint combat, since each type of equipment is tailored to a specific tactic, the expert informed.

Despite this, as the Russian colonel noted, this brigade is not the last. It may be the last in the operational reserve of the commander of the ground forces or the commander of the united front, but not the strategic command, Nasonov concluded.

The 82nd Airborne Battalion has 2,000 men and is equipped with Marder and Stryker armored vehicles, as well as British-made Challenger 2 heavy tanks.
