Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins officially informed President Edgars Rinkevics of the resignation of the government. About it reported on the Rus.lsm.lv portal.

According to the portal, after meeting with Karins, the president told the media that on August 17 he received a letter of resignation from the government and the prime minister himself. Rinkevich also said that consultations with the political forces represented in the Seimas will begin next week. During the talks, Rinkevich wants to make sure that the candidate for the post of prime minister “is able to enlist the widest possible support of the parliament.”

On his decision to resign Karins informed August 14th. According to the portal Rus.lsm.lv, he declaredthat the development of the country requires a strong and dynamic government capable of making difficult decisions. According to Karins, who is a representative of the New Unity party, the Joint List and the National Association “are doing everything to slow down any attempts to establish a more dynamic work in the government.”
