Zelensky proposed to equate corruption with treason during martial law

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on the air of the national telethon that he initiates equating corruption with high treason at the time of the introduction of martial law in the country.
“I have set a task, my proposals will be offered to the legislator,” he said.
Zelensky added that he definitely decided to make such a proposal, but does not yet know whether the Verkhovna Rada will support it. According to him, the initiative will go to the Ukrainian parliament within the next week.
If the proposal is accepted, then for corruption crimes in Ukraine they will be able to impose penalties in the form of life imprisonment, as is provided for treason.
