Not all states want to send their representatives to participate in the peace summit on Ukraine, which is planned to be held in Switzerland. This is due to the fact that they “have normal relations with Russia.” This statement was made on Thursday, March 28, by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

As the politician said in an interview with CBS, “we have everything ready, we are waiting for our partners to give their consent, but this is very difficult, because all partners must confirm that they will.”

The President of Ukraine noted that “the majority are on our side, but some are still balancing in their relations between themselves and Russia, because they earn money, because they have contracts.”

Russia has already expressed skepticism about the upcoming conference on Ukraine, recalling the ineffectiveness of such a format, and also stated that they would not agree to participate in this event, even if they received an invitation.

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis admitted that the conference on Ukraine, which Bern planned to hold before the summer of 2024, may be rescheduled at a later date. As Cassis noted, it is very important for Berne that other states recognize Switzerland’s right to act as the organizer of such an event.
