Zelensky called the Crimean bridge the goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking at the Aspen Security Forum, said that the Crimean Bridge is a “target that brings war” and must be neutralized.

“It is clear that this is our goal. And every goal that brings war, and not peace, must be neutralized, ”- leads “RIA Novosti” the words of Zelensky, who also called the goal of Ukraine the complete return of Crimea, which became part of Russia following a referendum in 2014.

Formerly Ministry of Defense of Ukraine acknowledged Kyiv’s involvement in the undermining of the Crimean bridge in the fall of 2022. Then a truck was blown up on the automobile part of the bridge from the side of the Taman Peninsula. Seven fuel tanks of a train heading towards the peninsula caught fire. Because of the explosion and fire, the bridge spans partially collapsed, killing four people. A criminal case was opened under an article on terrorism and eight people were arrested.

The Crimean bridge was also attacked on the night of July 17 by Ukrainian surface drones. As a result of the incident, a married couple died, their minor daughter was injured, the bridge received some damage. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a case on the fact of the attack about a terrorist attack, which, according to the department, was being prepared on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to respond to the attack. Later, the Russian Armed Forces began to inflict “retaliatory strikes” on targets on the territory of Ukraine.
