President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the passage of two more ships through a temporary corridor in the Black Sea.

“Two more ships have successfully passed our temporary grain corridor,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

On September 1, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine reported that two ships left the port of Yuzhny, 30 km from Odessa, which had been in the port since February 22 and 16 last year. Bulk carriers Anna-Theresa (under the flag of Liberia) and Ocean Courtesy (under the flag of the Marshall Islands) left the South and headed for the Bosphorus. They transported 56 thousand tons of pig iron and 172 thousand tons of iron ore concentrate.

August 16 from the port of Odessa came out and reached the Bosphorus the container ship Joseph Schulte. It became the first vessel with agricultural products to reach the strait after Russia withdrew from the grain deal.

The grain deal was concluded on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey and the UN, on the one hand, and representatives of Russia and Ukraine, on the other. It includes two agreements between Moscow and Kiev. The first is for the export of Ukrainian grain from three ports, including Odessa, Yuzhny and Chornomorsk, the second is for assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. On July 17, 2023, Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Initiative, citing the failure to comply with the agreements regarding the lifting of restrictions on the supply of Russian products.
