Tokyo is currently pursuing a course towards a new militarization of Japan, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. His words are quoted by TASS

Medvedev spoke at the celebration in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk of September 3, the Day of Victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II.

According to him, such a course of Japan seriously complicates the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.

He also pointed out that the current authorities of Japan, in their admiration for the United States, do not remember who organized the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Medvedev also recalled that there was no need to use nuclear weapons at that time, and at present Washington has not changed its approaches.

Earlier, Japan presented its annual report on military security issues, in which North Korea was called “an increasingly serious and imminent threat to Japan’s national security.” The Japanese Ministry of Defense proposed to increase military spending many times over, including to expand the capabilities of a missile strike. For this, it is planned to allocate 5 trillion yen ($37 billion), which is 25 times more than in the previous five-year period.

In February, it was reported that Japan was ready to consider the proposal of the Americans to deploy medium-range missiles, if any.
