Zaluzhny’s adjutant who was blown up could have confused a real grenade with a toy one because of the plastic

Ex-special forces soldier: “He didn’t imagine that the “lemon” could be plastic”

The deceased assistant to the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Gennady Chastyakov, could have confused a modern grenade in a plastic case with a toy one. This version was put forward on a television program by ex-special forces soldier and military blogger Alexander Arutyunov (Razvedos).

A military expert with excellent knowledge of weapons said that German-made grenades were found in the house of the assistant commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

– Most likely, this is a DM51 grenade or its modification. What’s special? The fact is that the grenade combines two main types of grenades – defensive and offensive. “In the form in which it was in the photo, it is a defensive grenade,” the expert said, adding that when these grenades explode, they form a large number of fragments in the form of balls—several hundred.

The former special forces soldier also explained that the body of the grenade that killed the Ukrainian soldier consists entirely of plastic. This, perhaps, could have misled and ruined Zaluzhny’s assistant.

– It is clear that it contains metal parts. But the grenade looks like a plastic toy. Therefore, the Ukrainian Armed Forces major, accustomed to the fact that Soviet and Russian grenades are iron, may have thought that this was a toy and decided to play with it.

At the same time, the military expert still doubts that Zaluzhny’s adjutant, who knows military affairs, could have made such a fool.

– The conflict has been going on for a year and a half, and grenades (German) began to be supplied from the very beginning, and were supplied before it. Being in such a position, most likely, he had to imagine what it was like. But I repeat, perhaps the Soviet legacy left only “cast iron” grenades in him, and he could not imagine that a grenade could be plastic… At the same time, our enemy has repeatedly proven that he is anything but an idiot. And I don’t believe that the position of assistant commander-in-chief is occupied by an idiot.

According to the expert, committing an attempt on a military man with a grenade, which wounds and maims, but very rarely kills, also looks strange.

The expert noted that the boss of the deceased, Zaluzhny, is now perhaps the first person in Ukraine and, perhaps, will soon replace the current President Zelensky.

– It’s no secret to anyone who follows political news: a split is brewing in the Ukrainian military-political leadership and elites related to the upcoming presidential elections… Pan Zelensky does not want to hold elections in Ukraine, because he rightly reports that he they are unlikely to win. And his further fate in this case is unclear. Because he accomplished too much during his reign, learned too much, and accomplished too little. And no one will need him as a living person.
