Zakharova warned of the consequences of Paris’s plans to create a coalition against Hamas

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Paris’s idea of creating a coalition to fight the Palestinian radical group Hamas is fraught with the escalation of the armed conflict in the Middle East.
According to the diplomat, the French idea, combined with the bellicose statements of a number of other international players, which are supported by the buildup of extra-regional forces in their military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean, is fraught with a subsequent escalation of the armed confrontation in the Middle East, the internationalization of the conflict and the involvement of new participants in it.
Zakharova argues that, in broad terms, this French initiative is far from the first that “does not get to the root of the problem.” An official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that often ideologically motivated actions by Paris become the cause of destabilization of the situation in individual countries and entire regions of the world.
She added that if France seeks to contribute to the work on a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, then it could support the Russian position, concentrating on political and diplomatic means of resolving the situation.
