Zakharova: Russia will never cause aggravation of relations with Armenia

Despite the statements of Western countries, Russia is careful about its allied relations with Armenia. Moscow will never provoke their escalation, Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a briefing.

“You shouldn’t pay attention to those <...> who questions our relationship [с Арменией] – this will all pass. We have already seen this in the example of other states. We know who is inciting such sentiments. <...> People of Armenia <...> passed <...> [через] such life tragedies that, perhaps, have not befallen any other people. He knows who is an enemy, who is a friend, and who is like that. [Армяне] they know that help in various types and formats has always come from Russia,” the Foreign Ministry representative emphasized.

Zakharova added. that the Russian side continues to support the Armenian people in Nagorno-Karabakh. Russian peacekeeping forces remain in the region and protect civilians. According to her, this is the “best confirmation” of Russia’s intentions and its current attitude towards Armenia. The Foreign Ministry representative also noted that Moscow counts on the further implementation of all agreements with Yerevan in the interests of the two peoples.

Earlier at the briefing, Zakharova commented on the attack on Sevastopol, which Ukrainian troops carried out on September 22. According to her, the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the attack on the city were coordinated by American and British intelligence services.
