Long-range missile strikes on the main infrastructure of the Crimean Peninsula have become a new tactic of Ukraine and NATO during hostilities. This statement was made by reserve colonel, head of the department of political science and sociology of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Andrei Koshkin, as quoted by Lenta.ru.
He noted that Washington and other parties to the alliance share their aviation, space and ground intelligence data with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, without hiding it.
“The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has failed, and now we need to propose a different paradigm – attacks using long-range missiles. This forces us to increase the effectiveness of air defense and electronic warfare systems,” the analyst stated.
In his opinion, the activity of NATO reconnaissance flights in the Crimea region indicates that the frequency of shelling will increase. The colonel also recalled the Pentagon’s statement that the long-range HIMARS and ATACMS missiles used by Ukraine, which Washington is just about to supply to Kyiv, are guided by a GPS system. Taking this into account, the United States can become an independent participant in the conflict, Koshkin concluded.
