The Kyiv authorities “do not know how to love,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the installation of a trident on the Motherland monument, which replaced the Soviet coat of arms.

“This is the whole essence of the Kyiv regime and the cyborgs led by it. Mother cannot be renamed. She is one. And the only thing you can do with it is love. And they don’t know how,” wrote Zakharov in his Telegram channel.

August 6 at the monument “Motherland” in Kyiv established the coat of arms of Ukraine is a trident, the Strana.ua edition reported. It was planned to raise it on August 5, but bad weather and the onset of darkness prevented the completion of work, the newspaper notes.

Last summer, the Ukrainian authorities reported that the population supported the abandonment of the emblem of the USSR on the shield of the Motherland. According to Strana, the cost of changing the coat of arms was UAH 28 million. In addition, the monument in the Ukrainian capital will receive a new name. It is planned that this will happen before the Independence Day of Ukraine, which is celebrated on August 24. The monument will soon be called “Mother Ukraine”.

The 102-meter (62 m without a pedestal) statue was unveiled in 1981 on Victory Day as part of the memorial complex of the Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II. Inside the pedestal there are three floors of exposition halls. The well-known author of a similar monument in Volgograd, Yevgeny Vuchetich, began working on the project of the statue, after his death, the work was headed by the Ukrainian sculptor Vasily Borodai, who significantly changed the project.
