“In connection with the appointment as deputy commander of the special purpose regiment Oplot for military-political work, Zakhar Prilepin was awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel of the National Guard,” the statement said.
The press service of Prilepin recalled that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of regiments of the Russian Guard for special purposes. One of them was created on the basis of the Oplot battalion, by the end of the year it will be sent to the special operation zone.
August 1 Prilepin was appointed deputy commander of the regiment of the Russian Guard, created on the basis of the Oplot battalion. Then he said that he plans to return to duty as soon as he recovers. In addition, Prilepin wrote that the battalion would receive heavy weapons.
Now Zakhar Prilepin is undergoing treatment after an assassination attempt on him. On May 6, the writer’s car was blown up in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result, Prilepin’s assistant and ally, Alexander Shubin, a native of Lugansk, who previously served in the LPR, died. The writer himself suffered and underwent several operations.
