Yaroslavl sixteen-year-old skiers Maria Shemyakina and Arina Loginova took to the start of the final stage of the Students’ Spartakiad in cross-country skiing. The Spartakiad takes place at the Laura ski complex in Sochi.

Let us remind you that young athletes were injured during the 10-kilometer race, which took place on March 8. Then, on a steep descent of the track, one of the leading skiers fell. And in the fog, which lay like a thick veil on the track, about two dozen more athletes ran into it and were driving down the slope. The girls, who collided at high speed, received fractures and bruises. A total of 15 athletes were injured.

Knee bruise and shin bruise – these were the injuries suffered by Yaroslavl athletes.

The girls’ parents urgently came to see them. But already on March 11, the Yaroslavl athletes felt well enough to enter the final race. The competition will take place on the same track where the collision occurred.

The Ski Federation is conducting an investigation into the collision and injury to the athletes. The results of the investigation have not yet been published.
