Businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin said on Sunday that he had visited the hospital where the director of the Russian House in the Central African Republic (CAR) Dmitry Syty is being treated after the assassination attempt on him.
“I visited Dima Syty in the hospital,” wrote Prigozhin, his message and photos of Syty in a hospital bed published telegram channel “Prigozhin’s Press Service”.
The businessman also wrote that Syty “had another operation yesterday,” the doctors “give good forecasts.”
The assassination attempt on 33-year-old Dmitry Syty was committed on the morning of December 16th. Syty received a package containing an explosive that detonated in his hands. He was urgently taken to intensive care in a serious condition: he was injured in his arm, concussion and lost a lot of blood. He was treated in the capital of the Central African Republic by Russian doctors, but then it was decided to evacuate him to Russia.
Satiy had previously received a package with threats and a warning that next time they would send him the head of his son living in France if the Russians did not leave Africa and let the French back there.
Prigozhin, commenting on what happened, stated that the assassination attempt was politically motivated and connected with an attempt to reduce Russia’s influence in the Central African Republic. He promised to apply to the Russian Foreign Ministry to initiate the recognition of France as a sponsor of terrorism.
