Businessman and founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin denied earlier reports in the media about the organization of rallies by a private military company demanding the resignation of St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, timed to coincide with March 8. Earlier, screenshots allegedly from the official communities of PMCs circulated on social networks, where Petersburgers were urged to take part in protests against the head of the city.
“As for March 8, I want to draw your attention to the fact that this is a pure fake. PMC “Wagner” was not going to do any action on March 8 in St. Petersburg and is not going to,” Mr. Prigozhin said, quoted by him press office.
Yesterday, March 5, the press service of Evgeny Prigozhin published his official statement criticizing Alexander Beglov, which was accompanied by the hashtag #BeglovVonIzPetersburg. Later, screenshots appeared on social networks allegedly from a group on VKontakte “PMC Wagner Leningrad Region” with a call to go to street actions, later this information was disseminated by several city and federal media, as well as a number of Telegram channels. The groups themselves in social networks, on behalf of which the posts were written, could not be found through open sources.
