An athlete from the Rybinsk sports school “Temp” Sasha Stepanov became the record holder of the Russian swimming championship.

The day before, the results of the tournament were summed up in the Northern capital. In addition to Russian athletes, representatives from Balarus, Madagascar, Ghana, Montenegro and Nigeria took to the starts. A total of 48 award sets were awarded at the championship.

Alexander covered the 800-meter freestyle distance at a record speed of 7:34.58, winning a gold medal. The previous record, which was set two years ago, was 7:35.97.

Deputy Chairman of the regional government Vera Dargel noted that the young Rybinsk resident did a lot for this victory. She expressed hope that the athlete’s victory would become an example for many young Yaroslavl residents.
