Rybinsk Mayor Yuri Lastochkin was arrested in 2013. In 2015, the court sentenced him under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Receiving a bribe”) and Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Waste”) to eight and a half years in prison and a fine of 140 million rubles. In 2022, the former official was released. As the investigation and the court considered, Lastochkin extorted a bribe from the director of the municipal enterprise for the extension of the labor contract, and earlier, being the head of NPO Saturn, he sold the complex of water treatment facilities at a reduced price. The ex-mayor himself never admitted his guilt.
