“Yandex” launched the translation of video from Chinese

It is specified that the process of translating a video from Chinese into Russian takes place in several stages. First of all, the neural network turns oral speech into written text, taking into account tones and context. As noted in the company, “Yandex” distinguishes all four tones and 6500 hieroglyphs. To train the neural network to do this, the developers chose 100,000 subtitled videos in Mandarin Chinese.
To use the video translation from Chinese to Russian, the user is prompted to click on the “translate video” button. Now this technology is already available on YouTube.
That “Yandex” launched polyphonic voice-over video translation, the company reported in mid-October 2022. In early August, Yandex added the possibility of simultaneous translation of live broadcasts. According to the head of the Yandex and Yandex Browser application, Dmitry Timko, four neural networks are involved in simultaneous translation: one recognizes audio and turns it into text, the other determines the gender of the speaker by biometrics, the third places punctuation marks and highlights semantic fragments, and the fourth one translates.
