The company is testing the operation of navigation beacons – beacons, which are miniature Bluetooth devices. They help in a few seconds and with high accuracy to determine the time when the courier took the order from the restaurant. This data allows you to predict the time of preparation of dishes, and help couriers deliver orders faster, the company said. The device is installed next to the order pickup window in a restaurant.
With the help of beacons, restaurants will receive reports on exactly where delivery orders are delayed. Since the beacons exchange radio signals with the couriers’ smartphones, when the delivery person shows up at the restaurant, the arrival time is automatically sent to the server. The technology will allow couriers not to stay in the restaurant for a long time and will make their interaction with the application easier – the status in the application will change automatically. And the usersYandex meals will be able to see more accurate order preparation predictions for each restaurant and receive orders faster.
Yandex Food is already testing beacons in the kitchens of the Many Salmon network in Moscow and St. Petersburg – they were the first to join the testing of the new technology, said Yakov Mendeleev, General Director of Many Salmon. Soon, beacons will appear at some Tasty – and that’s it. According to “Yandex Food”, over the past six months, couriers, on average, began to receive orders in restaurants twice as fast.
