Employees of the Australian State Association of Scientific and Applied Research CSIRO during the expedition of the scientific vessel Investigator found more than 750 fossilized shark teeth at a depth of 5.4 thousand meters.
The teeth found off the coast of the Cocos Islands reportedly belonged to sharks of various species, including the ancient megalodon shark, about 12 meters long, as well as modern mako and white sharks. The place where the find was made was called the “shark graveyard”.
In addition, among the finds was a small striped horned shark of a previously unknown species.
