Yandex Browser will translate YouTube broadcasts from five European languages

Yandex Browser now has a voice-over function using a neural network for all YouTube channels. Online broadcasts in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian will be available to video hosting users with Russian translation.
“Presentations of technological innovations and games, space launches, interviews with celebrities – users can now watch all this in Russian without waiting for the end of the live broadcast,” says a Yandex press release.
The new Yandex Browser feature is available in beta testing mode for any device. In order to use voice-over translation, you need to open a live broadcast on YouTube in one of the supported languages and click on the “Translate broadcast” button.
Voice-over translation from Yandex Browser operates using the new generation generative neural network YandexGPT integrated into it.
On September 15, the company announced that the browser had learned to generate subtitles in Russian on any website. According to Yandex research, about 40% of users turn on subtitles for convenience.
YouTube video service also testing simultaneous video translation function. Dubbed translations are available on the channels of individual authors. The function will be fully operational in 2024.
In September 2021, Yandex Browser launched voice-over translation of video from English. In August 2022, Yandex Browser began translate live broadcasts of some YouTube channels.
