X Corp. accused the European Climate Fund (ECF) of illegally helping the Center for Combating the Spread of Hate in the Digital Space (CCDH), against which Elon Musk’s company filed lawsuit last week.

According to The Guardian, lawyers X Corp. allege that the ECF gave CCDH illegal access to Brandwatch, a program that allows organizations to track social media posts, including X (formerly Twitter). “CCDH obtained this access with the help of the European Climate Fund, which provided CCDH credentials in violation of its contractual obligations to Brandwatch,” X Corp. said in a statement. The ECF has not yet commented on this statement.

CCDH conducts research on the dissemination of disinformation and hate-inciting publications on the Internet. CCDH has been regularly scrutinizing Twitter content since it was acquired by Elon Musk. NPOs estimate that the amount of content that promotes hate has grown over this time. Elon Musk’s lawyers sent a letter to the CCDH and its head, Imran Ahmed, accusing the NPO of publishing material containing “provocative, offensive, and false or misleading statements about Twitter.” In its lawsuit, X Corp. seeks monetary compensation (its amount is not specified) and an injunction for CCDH to access the data of the platform.
