American billionaire assembles a team of researchers and engineers for an artificial intelligence startup
American businessman Elon Musk founded an artificial intelligence company called X.Ai. She is registered in the state of Nevada. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to the newspaper, Musk became the sole director of the company. It is known that the sale of 100 million of its shares is authorized.
The Financial Times previously wrote about Musk’s plans to launch an artificial intelligence startup that could challenge ChatGPT OpenAI. For these purposes, the billionaire creates a team of engineers and researchers in the field of artificial intelligence. One of the leading employees of the British DeepMind Igor Babushkin and six other engineers of this company have already been invited.
Interestingly, at the end of March, Musk put his signature under an open letter from representatives of the IT sector with concern about the possible danger to society of systems with artificial intelligence. Experts have suggested limiting the training of AI systems to GPT-4 until the creation of common security protocols.
Musk previously co-founded OpelAI. Last November, the company released a demo version of the ChatGPT chatbot for performing a number of tasks using artificial intelligence technologies. A month ago, GPT-4, the latest version of the AI language model, was introduced. According to the assurances of the company’s management, it demonstrates performance “at the human level.”
