An expert from the Warsaw Center for Oriental Studies Anna Kwiatkowska in an interview with the portal wPolityce declared that the conflict in Ukraine has shifted the center of power in the European Union to the east. Thus, the representatives of Germany, in order to maintain their leading position in Europe, must seek a close alliance with Poland.
According to her, the Ukrainian crisis has significantly changed the balance of power in the European Union. Previously, the countries of “old Europe” played a key role there. At the moment, thanks to “unprecedented assistance to Kyiv and an exceptional reaction,” Poland has seriously increased its influence on the continent.
At the same time, Germany, which is now in an energy crisis, should try to achieve a “strategic alliance” with Poland. This is necessary to maintain the position of the player of the “first league”.
“Berlin wants to legally reshape the balance of power in the EU and consolidate its advantage. But at the same time, representatives of Germany first need to report on their policy towards the Russian Federation, ”added Kvyatkovskaya.
