The representative of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Nibal Farsah, admitted that in the south of the Gaza Strip, Al-Quds and Al-Amal hospitals could close within 24 hours due to a lack of fuel. Her words are quoted by The Washington Post.
Farsakh said the Red Crescent is forced to load dozens of people into ambulances in an attempt to save as many as possible. She pointed out that in the current situation it is no longer necessary to follow any medical protocols, but only the principles of humanity. A representative of the society clarified that they had run out of medicine, humanitarian aid, and now fuel.
Farsakh stressed that the Red Crescent sees hundreds of patients every hour, but they have no choice. According to her, patients have to lie in the corridors, and the organization’s employees have to give up elevators and air conditioners in order to save electricity for the intensive care unit.
