The Moscow authorities have canceled the Winter Bike Festival, scheduled for December 4th. This was announced by the Metropolitan Department of Transport in Telegram channel.
“Last week, Muscovites chose how the capital will celebrate the New Year. The majority voted in favor of abandoning street mass events. We also support the residents, so we decided not to hold the Winter Bike Festival, which was scheduled for December 4 this year, ”the agency said in a statement.
On November 16, the Moscow authorities launched a survey among residents of the capital about the format for celebrating the New Year. Of the approximately 300 thousand respondents, over 80% of the participants in the online voting were in favor of holding New Year’s events and festive decoration of Moscow. 52% suggested abandoning mass street events.
According to Kommersant’s information, the federal center recommended that the authorities of the subjects be guided by sociological data. A recent VTsIOM poll shows that most Russians want celebrations, but in a truncated format.
