Wildberries will cancel commissions when paying with Visa and Mastercard cards

Wildberries has decided to cancel the implementation of the mechanism for charging additional costs in case of direct payment with Visa and Mastercard cards. Representatives of the marketplace spoke about this on Friday, October 13.
Wildberries noted that this decision was made after a meeting at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation with the participation of representatives of Wildberries, the Central Bank and Rospotrebnadzor.
The commission that has already been withheld will be returned to the marketplace customers, the company promised.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office became interested in reports about Wildberries’ decision to charge buyers a 3% commission if they pay with Visa and Mastercard. The agency also decided to check the legality of the marketplace deducting money from customers if they return the ordered goods. There was also a check Rospotrebnadzor involved.
Chairman of the National Union for the Protection of Consumer Rights Pavel Shapkin expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of Wildberries management. In his opinion, “they went too farand in fact this is a lack of confidence in the ruble.”
