Why kids don’t enjoy school holidays

The end of December is a magical time for schoolchildren. New Year’s morning performances, tea parties and discos are coming together. End of school, tempting long holidays ahead, New Year’s surprises … Only this year, many are not up to fun. Flu-orvi mows down entire classes. And where children are still studying and celebrating, children and parents are embarrassed by fun according to the order.

First, it is not clear when to hold New Year’s events. Concerts are either canceled or left, leaving the decision to the discretion of the administration. And many directors decide not to hold discos. Last resort, tea and biscuits in class. According to tradition, “no matter what happens.”

But even the usual gatherings in the classroom with sweets and tea are questionable due to the incidence.

“My daughter has been sick for the third week, and now I myself have gone on sick leave,” says Evgenia, mother of a fifth-grader from Moscow. – The class chat rings for several days, they decide when we will celebrate the New Year. Children who are on sick leave, who are on sick leave. And everyone asks: “Wait until our Andryusha recovers …” or “Julia has almost recovered” … As if not adults write and do not understand that if an undertreated child comes to school, he can get infected again and fall ill, already on all holidays…

The situation is no easier with the theme of New Year’s performances and scripts, especially in elementary school.

“I have three children, two of them study in one school, and the eldest in another,” says Marina from Dmitrov, near Moscow. – It’s just that some kind of fad has gone to stupid productions. The youngest had a New Year’s serpentine matinee. They carefully blacked out everything foreign from there, as it seemed to them. As a result, some hares remained, titmouse and bullfinches, as if we were performing in the elementary group of the kindergarten.

But most of all the indignation of the mother of many children was caused by the scenario of the New Year’s holiday for her son, who is in the 6th grade. There, teachers somewhere dug out the script of a moralizing tale, according to my mother, “1955”.

“Imagine, the main characters there are the boys Fedya Fedotov and Kolya Nikolaev,” says Marina. – There is also a serious girl Anya, an activist girl Zoya, a man-orchestra Ilya and other characters. And they say something like this: “Guys, we must show a sponsored concert for our guys.” Or: “She persuaded me.” Horror is simple, “Vitek Trubachev at school and at home.” And the humor is appropriate: “Cacophony, melaphony, megaphony,” the musician says. Where they dug it all up, I don’t know. And make the whole class participate in it.

Other parents of schoolchildren also complain about the preparation for NY-2022 of school numbers in the spirit of “very trusted mask comrades”, as in the film “Welcome, or No Trespassing” (1964).

“Our children will be congratulated on the New Year by the deputy head of the administration for youth affairs,” says teacher Nadezhda from the Sverdlovsk region. – “In short, forty minutes.” Moreover, I was told that she would go around the district, several schools. And congratulate schoolchildren with Santa Claus. Snegurochka, you know… She will read more poetry, I saw the script, such, in the style of two stomps, three swoops. “You all became beautiful, you met Santa Claus” … And without that this year there is no New Year’s mood, everyone gets sick, the program goes down the drain. And in addition, the feeling of a “time machine” that takes us back decades.

In Moscow, not so earnestly, but they also redraw the scripts for the holidays. No Shreks or Harry Potter, Santa Claus. But for some reason, such characters as devils and witches (apparently reminiscent of Halloween), pirates (probably due to associations with foreign Jack Sparrow) and even a Chinese rabbit fell under the ban. In one school, a teacher with children took the initiative, prepared a scene with the symbol of the year according to the eastern calendar. For fun, the rabbit was a Chinese, spoke with an accent, had a slanted slit eye. The rabbit was banned with the wording “don’t laugh at China”…

The music was also treated meticulously. In different schools, the classic composition “ABBA” Happy New Year was banned (even in the USSR it was allowed at discos). “The New Year is rushing towards us” from “Disco“ Crash ”(the group has an inappropriate image). Impossible: Madonna’s remixes, which now appear to be in vogue, “Hands Up!” and even the Kino group, which is definitely not guilty of anything. A little more, and high school students will start rocking to “A Christmas Tree Was Born in the Forest”…
