In response to a journalist’s question about the UEFA ban on the match, Mr. Cheferi said that he did not see “any problem” in holding the game.
“Why is this such a problem? Why is it a problem that young people go to play football? And no one cares about this match: if you, the British, had not talked about it, no one would have known,” said Alexander Cheferi.
The head of UEFA noted that the union does not have the authority to ban the match. According to him, within the framework of the law, representatives of the organization cannot influence him in any way.
The President of the Russian Football Union Alexander Dyukov announced on December 20 that Russia will hold a match with Serbia in March 2024. Later, the Secretary General of the Football Union of Serbia, Jovan Surbatovich, clarified that the match will take place on March 21 at the Dynamo stadium in Moscow. The Russian national team will play against a European team for the first time since 2021.
