Why do officials strive to ban something?

What’s the matter? This is a tradition? Syndrome of 75 years of communist administration? This mystery is great.

The usual, alas, history. A resident of Kemerovo saw an advertisement on the page of a very popular local blogger. They promised a cheap smartphone. She believed, transferred the money. And with that, the connection was interrupted. Countrymen told State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin that he was from Kemerovo. What do the servants of the people do in such cases? Probably, they turn to the relevant authorities, they start an investigation, find the swindler and put him on trial. However, the deputy posted a proposal on social networks: to ban bloggers from advertising “dubious goods and services.”

But what does “doubtful” mean from a legal point of view? And in general, how to do it? How to ban?

Nothing specific.

But another State Duma deputy, Vitaly Milonov, is specific. Remember, a year ago he spoke out against the possible distribution of the American film Cinderella in Russia? We won’t explain why here.

“We need to take all the officials of the Ministry of Culture under the control of the FSB and see which of them will try to legalize this “Cinderella” in our country, figure out and arrest such people and send them to Ramzan Akhmatovich for re-education,” he said in an interview.

Everything is more than specific. By Ramzan Akhmatovich, he clearly meant the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. Only the legislator Milonov did not specify on what legal basis he instructs the head of one of the autonomous republics to “re-educate” employees of the federal ministry. So far – the Ministry of Culture. And then the matter can reach the Ministry of Defense?

Further more. Over the past year, the deputy’s plans have expanded. Recently, a certain resident of the Leningrad region went to a solo picket with a poster, the inscription on which angered Milonov (and me, by the way, too). A photo of this picket was posted by a blogger who left Russia.

“What to do with him now? Milonov asked a rhetorical question in an interview with Reedus. And he answered himself: – We must return to one good practice. How did Bandera’s grave appear? With the help of the Soviet special services: they promptly provided him with a meeting with Satan. It was a good tradition. And you don’t have to say anything. Just scoundrels who say: “Russians, you are …”, should go to the kingdom of Bandera as quickly as possible. <…> What are we ashamed of? It’s just that someone made such a statement and something happened to him.”

That is, the legislator Milonov proposes to introduce secret murders for anti-Russian statements? In droves?

Against this background, the statement of State Duma deputy Maria Butina, who in a recent popular TV show said that parents whose children will use VPN if YouTube is blocked, should be imprisoned, looks like sheer vegetarianism.

There was a buzz on social media. And not just on social media. Senator Andrey Klishas, ​​State Duma deputies Yevgeny Revenko and Alexander Khinshtein immediately issued statements that the issues of punishing VPN use were not discussed in any faction, in any committee or commission of parliament: “Using a VPN is not a crime.”

And Maria Butina herself reacted to the noise raised by her:

“What I said on the air should be considered exclusively in the context of the entire conversation, which deals with the importance of parents’ attention to the upbringing of their children and what is consumed by the younger generation in the information field. I didn’t say anything more, I didn’t even think about it.”

That is, about “imprisoning” – is that how she figuratively expressed it? Or even joked?

Of course, we are a familiar people. But the millions of parents who heard this on TV, and even from a State Duma deputy, were probably not laughing.

Long experience shows that many, many of our compatriots, having taken this or that post, becoming media people, immediately begin to ban something, and preferably on an all-Russian scale. That is, if you become the boss, you must prohibit something.

What’s the matter? This is a tradition? Syndrome of 75 years of communist administration?

This mystery is great.

Or maybe the secret is simple. Prohibit – do not build.
