WHO warns of health-threatening marketing of formula milk industry

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called the marketing practice of milk formula manufacturers dangerous for the health of children and mothers. Geneva issued a press release calling on countries to take action to support breastfeeding.
The WHO cites in its argument three articles published in the British Lancet magazine that negatively assessed the marketing practices of formula milk manufacturers.
In Geneva, they pointed to improper lobbying against measures to support breastfeeding. They, according to WHO members, “seriously threaten the health and rights of women and children.” The organization’s research fellow Nigel Rollins stated that “action is needed in various sectors of society to better help mothers breastfeed as much as they want.”
