WHO: Russia has become a leader in the incidence of COVID-19

The most cases of COVID-19 were registered in Russia between October 23 and November 19 – 121,482 people. This is evidenced by the data provided in the information bulletin of the World Health Organization. Italy is in second place in terms of incidence (more than 104 thousand cases), Singapore is in third place (65 thousand).
At the same time, the most deaths from Covid were registered in Italy – 597. In Sweden – 372 deaths, in Russia – 250.
The World Health Organization also reported an increase in deaths due to COVID-19 in Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean. Moreover, in Africa, according to the WHO newsletter, the number of deaths has increased multiple times.
According to the World Health Organization, mortality on the African continent increased by 167% from October 23 to November 19, while the number of cases decreased by 14%. A slight increase in mortality – 12% – was noted in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The morbidity picture is generally quite heterogeneous. In Europe over the past month, fewer people got sick from Covid (by 18%) and died less (by 49%). At the same time, in the Western Pacific region, the number of cases increased (by 14%), while the number of deaths decreased by 38%.
