The situation with the spread of mycoplasma pneumonia in Russia is completely controlled, said the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Russian Federation, Melita Vuinovich.
“Every week, the National Influenza Institute in St. Petersburg and Rospotrebnadzor communicate through a worldwide system, where they report what has been detected and how many cases there are. So this is all under supervision. We don’t currently see any significant growth in Russia that would indicate some kind of outbreak,” said TASS Mrs. Vujnovic. In her opinion, the spread of mycoplasma infection is not a “new threat,” but is dangerous for children and other “vulnerable categories.”
Mycoplasma infection is an infection of the upper and lower respiratory tract that can develop into pneumonia. At the end of last year, a surge in the incidence of SARS was recorded in Europe; German authorities linked this to the spread of mycoplasma infection.
In Russia recorded several cases of this infection. Head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko named the virus is “absolutely controllable”. In December 2023, Rospotrebnadzor, due to an increase in the number of respiratory diseases, decided enhance sanitary control at the border with China.
