The United States received consular access to the American Travis Leak, who was detained in Moscow on suspicion of selling drugs, and was sent into custody for two months. About this TASS writes citing White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby.

“As far as I know, consular officials were present at the arraignment against him and indeed received consular access to him,” he said at a press briefing.

Earlier today, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken informedthat the United States is trying to find out the details of the detention of an American.

“We are looking for an opportunity to learn more about Lik’s detention, we are working not only to be in touch with him and have consular access, but also with his family,” Blinken said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

On June 10, the Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow until August 6 arrested American Michael Travis Leak on charges of drug trafficking. The Telegram channel of the capital’s courts of general jurisdiction reported that the former paratrooper of the US Armed Forces and musician Lik is accused of organizing a drug trafficking business involving young people. TASS, citing the press service of the court, clarified that earlier in this case, an acquaintance of the American, Russian woman Valeria Grobanyuk, was arrested. We are talking about paragraph “g” of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal production, sale or shipment of narcotic drugs on a large scale). The detainees face up to 12 years in prison.

According to REN TV, the American was detained on June 6, and during a search in Lik’s apartment, several bundles of drugs were found.

Travis Leak is the vocalist of Seize the Night. The musician produced the bands Louna, “Cockroaches!” and “Slot”. Izvestia, citing a source earlier wrotethat the American served in the US Airborne Forces and took part in the military operation in Iraq.
